CAPE Trip!

Hello! I am very fortunate to be the principal
at a school that is "the best kept secret" in Oakland.
I have known since the second grade that I wanted to work in education.
After having Mrs. Haley for my 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Bella
Vista Elementary School, I was positive that I wanted to be a
teacher. I attended all Oakland schools and was well prepared
to continue my education at the University of California, Davis.
I continued my education in the Teacher Corps at California State
University, Sacramento. It was an invaluable experience in that
my training took place in the California Youth Authority, county
detention facility, continuation high school, and an elementary
public school.
I first began working at Glenview in the early
1990's as a Teacher on Special Assignment. I returned as Glenview's
principal for the 1999-2000 school year. It is rewarding to work
in a school that has a diverse student population that enriches
the school culture, as well as being attractive to parents as
a place for their children to receive an education.
My vision is for Glenview to be an academic and
performing arts school of the highest caliber. Our objective is
for students to have the freedom to be themselves and express
themselves in an open respectful manner. At the same time, we
maintain a standard of excellence that develops disciplined students
who are objective and sensitive to the needs of others. Our ultimate
goal is to produce individuals who will be productive citizens
who see the value of volunteering and community development that
aims at furthering the extended family concept.
