Bible Study

Numerous Bible Study opportunities are available throughout the campus for the new converts to the seasoned saints of all ages. Please visit our schedule of Bible Study classes under Events.

City of Hope Bible Institue Ext. 289

The City of Hope Bible Institute offers a structured three-year diploma program in which students will learn direct from 32 prominent scholars who have taught at some of the most famous Bible colleges, seminars and universities. Courses are taught in 13 week semesters: Old Testament subjects include: The Pentateuch, Early Israelite History, The Kingdom Period, The Post Exilic Period, Old Testament Literature, Major Prophets, and the Minor Prophets. The New Testament is taught in four semesters. Other subjects are: Great Doctrines of the Christian Faith, The Life of Christ, Biblical Prophecy, Personal Evangelism and Church History.

Discipleship Ext. 161

The purpose of the ministry is to prepare maturing Christians and potential leaders in the church to spiritually develop and master their lives so that they may effectively perfect other Christians. This is done through a 12 week intense discipleship training for ages 6 months through adult held in the Spring and Fall each year. To register, click here.

New Members Ext. 158

This ministry works with those who have newly accepted Christ as their personal Savior and those already in the Body of Christ who have recently made Hopewell their Church Home. The mission is to lovingly, and compassionately lead individuals to a clear understanding and confession of the Word of God in order minister salvation, restoration, baptism (in the Holy Spirit), and church membership. Orientation consists of 4 classes. New Members Graduation Celebration is held quarterly. Orientation training is a pre-requisite for working in any ministry of Hopewell.

Sunday School Ext. 160

Teaching practical application of Biblical principles in our daily lives. Meets Sundays at 10:00 am. Adult classes are held in Faith Hall and classes for children and teens are held in the Educational Wing classrooms.

Ushers Ministry Ext. 130

Assist the congregation in seating and general directions inside the sanctuary.

Transportation EXt. 155

Provide secure and safe parking and traffic flow on church property and surrounding areas. Primary contact for reservations of church vans and bus for ministry use.

Wedding Ministry Ext. 172

Schedules the pre-marital counseling sessions, ministerial staff, custodial staff and ensures that church policy and procedures are followed by wedding party, their guests and vendors

COMMUNITY OUTREACH  

Ambassadors for Christ Ext. 150

Interdenominational evangelical outreach to help homeless and underprivileged men by witnessing the Gospel, giving free haircuts, clothing, food, furniture, assist with finding employment, housing, transportation. Work with several area churches to gather clothes, food, money, and furniture and assist the men at the Atlanta Union Mission.

Disaster Relief Ext. 167

Works with families in the church and surrounding community following catastrophic disasters (fire, tornados, flooding, etc.) Provides resource information and training for those who have been called to this ministry.

Employment Network Ext. 133

Coordinates campus job fairs, works with local employers and the state Department of Labor to place qualified candidates in available positions. Works closely with the Hope for the Future program to assist in resume consultation, interviewing skills, etc.

Entrepreneur Group Ext. 133

Introduce church members who own their own business of the church body through a business bulletin and business expos. Provide training and distribute educational materials to business owners and future business owners as well as to direct them to various resources available to small business owners.

Missions Ministry Ext. 134

Local and foreign outreach for spiritual, physical and educational needs. Foreign outreach works continually in preparation for foreign aid and then takes the Gospel along with food, clothing, materials, etc. to the under privileged in the local community and to foreign countries. Foodstuffs, clothing and other donations are received at the Global Community Outreach Center.

Plug-In Ministry Ext. 131

Substance abuse ministry that teaches deliverance from addiction, through Christ. Meet every Tuesday and Friday at 7:00 pm.

Prison Ministry Ext. 165

It is the intent of this ministry to minister to the whole person as standard adapted to teach individuals how to fish versus just giving them a fish Matthew 5:19.

Spirits of Hope Ext. 165

An extension of the Prison Ministry, the Spirits of Hope serves as a support group for the family and friends of the incarcerated.

Recreation/Athletic Ministry Ext. 164

The purpose of the ministry is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and build relationships by establishing an ongoing fellowship among the Body of Christ and community through athletics and recreational activities.

FAMILY OUTREACH  

BASIC (Brothers & Sisters in Christ) Unmarried Ministry Ext. 168

Teach, train & encourage unmarried saints to be spirit filled; do the work of Christ & edify the church; receive sound biblical instruction and learn how to develop healthy relationships as they walk in wholeness. Monthly spiritual growth meetings and monthly social along with conferences, forums and rap sessions are held throughout the year.

Men of Faith Men's Ministry Ext. 153

Minister to men of Hopewell regarding being a Christian and addressing issues of manhood and brotherhood. Sponsor church activities such as: Father/Son Picnic, Father/Daughter Banquet and the annual Men’s Day services. Every adult male member of Hopewell is a member of the Men of Faith Men's Ministry.

Marriage Covenant Ext. 152

The goal of this ministry to aid in strengthening the family unit by promoting healthy and wholesome family dynamics. A nation is only as strong as its family structure. It is our hope to help repair the breach so that our families will exemplify Christ in the earth. Sponsor trips, seminars, conferences i.e., family life marriage conferences, and the marriage re-affirmation service & family nights. Childcare services are usually available.

Pre-Marital Ministry Ext. 142

The purpose of this ministry is to provide Godly pre-marital group counseling for couples scheduled to be married.

PTSC Group (Parent Teacher Student Covenant) Ext. 146

Outreach to the community and schools to promote academic excellence and establish accountability among parents, students and teachers. Also help our children to develop as strong leaders through nurturing, love and positive re-enforcement.

Seniors Ministry Ext. 243

Spiritual and social fellowship amongst seniors, including Bible study, arts and crafts, games, outings and regular fellowships.

Single Parents Ext. 175

Support each other spiritually and personally through Bible studies, and support discussions, provide mentoring for children of single parents often partnering with the PTSC.

Women of Hope Ext. 136

Designed to help women come into their destiny through the Word of God, fellowship, mentoring, prayer, and God inspired relationships. Teen and adult women are challenged and encouraged to become virtuous and wise women. Provides spiritual and social fellowship amongst women in the body through Biblical studies, prayer breakfast, conferences and the annual Women’s Day service. Every adult female member of Hopewell is a member of Women of Hope.

Young at Heart Ext. 169

Fellowship for those 40ish and over, married and unmarried through social outings, trips, potluck dinners, social and economic seminars in addition to Bible Studies, seminars, programs and entertainment as well as a book-of-the-Month Club.

MUSIC AND ARTS  

Responsible for the teaching, training and functioning of music throughout the entire church body. A vehicle of evangelism whose expressions are embodied within various musical idioms: Psalms, hymns, anthems, spirituals, traditional and contemporary gospel music, and melodies and rhythms of African origin.

The Hopewell Music Ministry has five choirs who minister on the Sundays designated:

  • Inspirational (1st and 3rd) - Ext. 296
  • Shields of Faith (2nd; youth ages 12-21) - Ext. 186
  • Men of Faith (4th) - Ext. 182
  • Voice of Faith (5th, youth ages 4-12) - Ext. 180

Dance Ministry Ext. 171

Praise and worship through dance. Available for ages 3-adult; male and female.

Drama Ministry Ext. 138

The Drama Ministry exist to minister the Word of God effectively through recreations of Biblical situations and through real life situations demonstrating how God’s Word applies to our lives daily.

Sign Language Ext. 154

The Sign Language Ministry offers interpretation during Sunday worship services for hearing impaired persons.

Audio/Video Ministry Ext. 170

Taping the services of Hopewell for distribution, reaching the saved – who can always use a fresh anointing; the lost – who need our Savior Jesus Christ; the sick and the shut-in-who need the Word brought to them; the incarcerated-to offer hope by the LOVE of God’s Word.

To fulfill our roles and responsibilities as Ministers/Evangelists according to God's Word; for the perfecting of the Saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God. To extend our support faithfully to our Pastor, and to his God given vision for Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Ministers Wives Ext. 125

Assist the ministers in the ministry, act as a guide to the vast resources offered through the Hopewell Body and provide personal counseling in areas where women need the understanding ear of another woman. (Ministry, Marriage, Elderly Care, Sick & Shut-In, Abuse, Teen Pregnancy, Rape)

Shepherd’s Care Ext. 159

Maintain Pastor’s office/study, purchase necessary pastoral equipment, organize and coordinate Pastor’s Anniversary, plan for annual events such as Christmas, Birthday, and Anniversaries.

Trustees Ext 225

The Trustee Ministry is a group of committed spirit filled servants called to serve the church body through the effective management of church assets.

PHYSICAL & SPIRITUAL WELLBEING  

By His Stripes Ext. 148

Visit sick and shut-ins in the hospital and at home, send flowers for hospital stays and funerals, assist those who cannot get to their doctor’s appointment, assist with transportation or medication pickup. Light housekeeping for seniors who are alone and ailing. Volunteers must be saved and committed to God.

Fitness Center Ext. 272

The purpose of the Fitness and Wellness Center ~ Adult Social Room (HFWC) is to provide creative and meaningful activities for members in a Christian environment. This program is an integral part of the total ministry of HMBC and seeks to compliment, under gird and strengthen all ministries, organizations and auxiliaries. Emphasis will be placed upon leading individuals to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and helping Christians grow and mature in their faith.

Grief Support Ext. 176

The purpose of the ministry is to encourage with compassion, offer help and hope to those who are grieving the loss of loved ones by centering on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to promote guidance and healing as one walks through their journey in grief.

Health Council Ext. 222

Promoting holistic approach to health & healing (mind, body & spirit) sponsor health drives i.e., diabetes Sunday, CPR training, blood drives, mammograms, Bells for Remembrance, Prostate screening, etc. No health experience necessary.

Intercessory Prayer Ext. 132

Prays for the needs of the Body of Christ, prays for people who request prayer or whose needs are brought to the attention of the ministerial body. Webster's defines interceding as intervening between parties with a view toward reconciling differences. In other words, to intrude on God's just judgment and plead for His mercy and Grace instead. To stand in the gap for the senior pastor, leadership, members and the vision of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Isaiah, Isaiah Ext. 147

Minister to men who wrestle with homosexuality; knowing that Jesus can and will give deliverance and salvation to those who diligently seek Him.

YOUTH  

To minister, teach, and preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through biblical principles, personal testimonies, retreats, drama, dance, fun outings, life application, quiet time, Bible study, praise and worship, and fasting and prayer. To fully equip our youth in the area of Outreach Ministry, and imparting in them a desire to seek out others who may be in need and render support. Showing them that by helping and praying for others who may be less fortunate we are doing God’s work. Age appropriate training available for children 1 year old through 18 years of age through nursery, Children’s Church and Teen Church.

Boy Scouts Ext. 149

Provides an educational program for boys and young adults (age 6-20) to build values, strong character, to train in the responsibilities of participation citizenship, and to develop personal fitness, to develop leaders.

Provides an educational program for girls and young adults (age 5-20) to build values, strong character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness, to develop leaders.
